Virginia has been known as a crucial swing state to politicians for many years. As we can see, Virginia has tended to vote Republican since the 70's, but leaned Democratic slightly enough for Obama to take the state in the last presidential election.Two big reasons that Virginia is such a 'hot' swing state for the candidates is because of slightness of points separating the current public standing and the fact that Virginia has 13 electoral votes.
