Barack Obama Stays!

The election was not as close as many had anticipated. Obama won the electoral college to remain our President with 303 votes, while winning the state of Virginia with 50.8% of the popular vote. Democrat Timothy Kaine won the open seat in the senate with 52.4% of the popular vote. More information later!

Voters report five-hour waits to vote in Chesapeake




Voters Virginia have been stuck in line from anywhere between 3-5 hours. Some Virginians have been feeling as if this is a stop to their right to vote. Although this has been the story in many states, the areas with the highest holdup mysteriously have a higher black population, and a lot of the same polling places that caused issues in the 2008 election are the same ones being affected today.

Ballots next Tuesday will contain many different candidate names for Virginians to choose from. This article helps to make the choices clear. Every voter should take the time to investigate where these candidates stand on the issues that matter the most to them, and then make a choice. Voting is a right that we are lucky to have as Americans, don't sit back! Jim Webb, a democrat, is retiring after his six year term, leaving a senate seat open to a new candidate. Republican George Allen and Democrat Tim Kaine will battle it out in a very close race. Also, all 11 seats in the House of Representatives are up for re-election.
